Welcome to Designing Adam 2 WordPress Blog.
This is the Development Diary of Adam 2 so we can keep track of what we are doing and why we are doing. We will keep our focus on developments and this blog will go a little more into the technical details, so get your notebooks ready!

Here’s my wishlist for the Adam 2.
1. Adam 2 should retain its good looks. Don’t change the unique rounded, rubberised grip.
2. The screen resolution must be as good as the best tablet available.
3. There should be a Windows-like user interface. Right now pasting/moving files from one Adam folder to another or from a USB to an Adam folder is a major pain.
4. Adam 2 must be lighter so women and children can enjoy long hours of usage.
5. Battery life must be at least 8 hours. There must be an Asus eepad like keyboard/battery dock option for 16-20 hours battery life. Currently, tablets are useless as input devices without a keyboard dock.
6. Accessories should be available on the Notion Ink site.
7. More colours!
8. Don’t close bookings. Keep accepting orders, for god’s sake I can wait.
allow it to be used as a phone too – possibly blue tooth!!
Awesome list megasthenes. I agree that a keyboard dock or a keyboard/battery dock would be very useful and would be a nice addition to the Adam.
Speaking of which, one idea I would like to see is either a mouse cursor in the middle of the keyboard or a pull out keyboard tray within the keyboard dock. And make sure that the dock has enough ports.
And speaking of docks, I thought of this idea a while back and I think it would look neat.

These are what you need to win the rest :
1) Voice recognition that is better than Siri.
2) Parallel display or remote to a 2nd OS ( Window OS or Mac ) with just a swipe like ” Parallel desktop
3) 2 Wifi Channel
4) Able to make voice call
5) OLED Display
6) High MP camera with flash
7) More internal Disk
8) Provide casing that able to stand view
9) Gorilla 2 touch pannel
10 ) Keyboard extension
11) ) Connect to to cloud server
12 ) game pad for better game experience
13) improve on NI widget for better browsing experience
14) Quad Processor or better
15) And of cos better customer service support from NI
+1 you have got a good list, i would like gps-A instead of real time gps and NFC on adam 2
A-GPS is very much real time. It is a stand-alone GPS in itself.as per the current aGPS standards.

That’s interesting to read, because I had somehow thought that the changed adam1 specs from a-gps to gps was an improvement. Having just checked wiki it does seem that a-gps has some advantages. However I assume that a wifi-only tablet would not be helped by this technology.

@Phillip: Yeah, I initially got the lead from our rival Ipad forums
aGPS, according to current standards is full GPS with assisted positioning (for accuracy) where the aGPS server is available.

As a patriot Indian I would like to see Adam replacing iPad as it was received however, failed due to various issues of software and hardware both. though the expected list could include SPACE Shuttle like capabailities but i will keep it simple, realistic and straight. You should aim to replace Netbooks completely:
ABOVE ALL METAL CASING WITH PREMIUM LOOK AND DESIGN so that people don’t mistake it for a cheap chinese tablet.
- Android 4.0 with your unique UI but without irritants like copy paste etc.
- IPS LED Panel with best reolution of that time but not less than 1280×800. Gorilla glass with SCRATCH GUARD.
- Eink capability like that of kindle which is paper like to eyes as it has no backlight.
- Native ebook reader that can read all formats like .epub,.pdf,.cbr etc.
- Nvidia Tegra 3 processor not overclocked beyond 20% or original architecture to
protect from overheating and battery consumption saving.
- 2 Gig RAM if ok else not less than 1 GIg for sure.
- 32 GB internal memory. More is not needed as USB will help to connect with external HDD.
- 3G with 21mbps or more downlink and at least 10.2 uplink capability
- SMS/MMS and GSM voice calling capability (in dire situations as phone with headset). If voice calling enhances cost then voice calling can be left out but SMS/MMS is needed at all cost.
- Full HDMI with HDMI to VGA (female) converter cable (in box) to attach with projectors for presenations.
- Battery of 6500 mah or more. with quad core it will surely last 40% more than with current dual core.
- Media/Video player with all codecs possible incl. subtitles ad dual language capability.
- Pen like stylus to use it like a note pad but without lag while writing plus
- Native document editor which allows use of styles to highlight/encircle text/graph etc. during live presentation but not like converting the screen to photo and then inking the same.
- Full USB to connect with HDD/keyboard/dongles/card readers etc.
- 8 mp cam with full HD @30fps video capability for high quality video/skype calls.But the important part here is use of quality cmos sensor else it will be like fake 8 mp which many chinese phones/tablets boast of but dont stand even closer to 3 mp of samsung/sony/moto.
- rotatable leather/synthetic casing like that of iPad so that it can be used in horizontal and vertical stand position for ease of use.
- Keyboard doc may be offered but I dont thing it will be needed since FULL USB will allow attaching small keyboards with tablet for typing/navigation etc.
- Good quality speakers as Adam 1′s speakers were pretty average.
- Two mics, one for noise cancellation for clear video/skype calls.
Plus last but not the least,Software should be completely bug free and stable since hardware is very strong only software would be concern here

I like your list, but IMO I would say
1- regarding the case:
the case adam came in was just great. He never looked like a chinese ripoff, and certainly other tablets which shall not be named have a propensity to slip out of one’s hand with their metal curved back form factor. However I will say that a Goliath case (both skin and armour) has been an excellent addition to my adam.
2- regarding Tegra 3:
Rohan has already moved on from Tegra 3 so that’s not going to happen
3- regarding storage:
I agree! I think that more and more we’re moving to cloud storage, however my big regret was not having the option to purchase a unit with more internal storage. Adam 1 could handle 128Gb but you can’t purchase an HCSD to do it justice. I’d love to see options for adam2 like 8,16,32,64, even 128 internal storage.

choose one.
Either you have Pixel Qi screen, which is 1024×600 10″ (and rumours are there woudl be some day 1280×720 screens that no one saw yet) which are famous for having E-ink-like mode.
Or you choose Sharp or IPS conventional LCD screen, which may have high resolution like iPad but just like iPad would never have e-ink mode.
You may ask for option to choose, but you may not have both at once in single device.
Hummmm!.. Sounds very much like a “SPACE shuttle”

This is a great idea! Separating this development from the baggage of the other blog is just what we needed. Hopefully those who didn’t get it with Adam One will just stay away from this, but only time will tell.

this box treat me logged in, but all other places asks for WordPad account without OpenID options like Twitter.
…and i do not remember my old pre-Adam1 account
i recovered WordPad password and logged into it, so now i can reply to intermediate posts. But… it still uses twitter account. This functionality in blog is extremely buggy in Opera at very least

Hello all! Long time no see! Time to try to give NI a extra hand in bringing Adam II to fruition! First off, I think it’s good to create a second blog. I also suggest you create a second Forum. Trolls will arrive but at least in a forum you can block them if they are disrespectful!
Also, I think Adam II should have more than just hardware and software. NI is so small and probably be for a while, you have to think accessories too. At least basic ones like cases, bags, covers, screen protectors. It would be great if Adam II would come bundled with a professional looking leather case or something of the sorts designed SPECIFICALLY for the Adam.
I would like to continue discussions like this on a separate forum, I believe it would be very constructive and keep blog comments focused on the blog post at hand!
